The exact one origin of White Wyandottes is unknown but most probably these chickens were first discovered in New York, America. They were possibly developed as a cross between Brahma chickens and Silver-Spangled Hamburgs.

Appearance of White Wyandotte Chicken

White Wyandotte is a very simple color variety of the Wyandottes as they have a single basic white color without any lacing on the body like other varieties. They have rose type comb that helps them to bear cold weather. They also have a curvy shape while the neck is short. 

These chickens have yellow skin and their legs are also clean and yellowish. The earlobes and wattles are red in color that looks attractive along the white feathers. Their eyes are also bright and they have four toes.

White Wyandotte is a medium-sized chicken breed. However, the weight of any chicken breed can vary depending on their diet and feed.

How to Raise White Wyandotte Chicken?  

Care & Protection

White Wyandotte is a strong breed and can survive in extreme conditions. These are cold hardy chickens and can bear northern climates without any difficulty. However, they will require some extra care and protection, if you are willing to keep them in areas with hot climates. Keep them in shady and airy coops where water is available every time.

These chickens don’t get sick easily but still their vaccination should be done on time. They are very active birds so, if you see they are looking a bit lazy than give them the required veterinary care. 

Housing or Coop Set up

All chicken breeds love to live in a comfortable house or coop where they can peacefully live and lay eggs. White Wyandottes also need an airy and comfortable coop. A 4-6 square feet coop is perfect for these elegant chickens but you can increase the size depending upon the area and space you have. can depend on the space you have but ideally a 4-6 square feet coop is enough for these chickens.

Put nesting boxes in their coops where they can comfortably lay their beautiful light brown eggs. Ideally 3 hens can lay eggs in one nesting box.
